Often when I talk to women about working from home they have concerns about time management. Time management is a learned behavior, it is not something that comes natural for most of us.
I remember when I first started working from home and how difficult it was to get friends and family to understand that I was not on 24/7 call for visitation, afternoon trips to the mall, another round of Sesame Street or long winded chats over a cup, or 3, of coffee. At the time most of my friends had no concept of what it was to work from home and many wondered when I was going to give up and get a real job!
Now well over 15 years later I can tell you. NEVER! I have a real job and I love what I do. What better way to spend life than enjoying what you do and helping to enrich the lives of others while watching them and yourself build financial security and free up your life to do the things that are most important to you and your loved ones?

Did you know, that as reported by moneywatch.com, the average income for someone who works for someone else is $53,500 annually; while someone who is self employed is $109,000.
Wow that’s something to think about isn’t it?

I think we can all agree that marketing is one of the most important things you can do for your business and yet it seems to be the one stumbling block for many entrepreneurs. One thing I would suggest when looking for ways to market is; don’t under estimate the marketing value of social networking sites.
Social networking sites began popping up on the Internet about 15 yrs ago, and today millions of users post on over 200 networking sites daily. Not only do sites like Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook, allow you to chat with family and friends; but it gives you a great opportunity to market your business, build relationships and learn more about things like target audience.
Over all, marketing is one of the largest expenses a business can have. Using social networking sites can get your message out, and educate the public about what your business has to offer, for free! Everyone from fortune 500 companies to small mom and pop businesses use social networking media to market their business around the world daily. Shouldn’t you?
Twitter, for example, in 2009 was reported by the Nielson report to have had over 18 million adult users in the US alone; and experienced a 44% climb in 2010. That figure does not include users tweeting directly from their blogs, or mediums such as mobile aps and text messaging.
In a statement released by eMarketer, in January of this year, they estimate twitter will generate $150 million advertising revenues in the year 2011 and $250 million in 2012, but even these figures pale in the estimates for social networking giant Facebook.
And who are these social networking butterflies? It may surprise to know that most of them are not the College students or young gamers you might expect. No! As reported by pingdom, the highest ranking age for networking site users is 35 to 44 years of age followed by those between 45 and 65.

Ask any stay-at-home mom, nothing beats being able to be there to share special moments with your child or care personally for them in times of need. No more sitting in the office while your child is suffering from a high fever and hearing about it from a care giver. Though some women are lucky enough to have great support systems set in place at home. It’s always comforting to know that you can be available for your child when he is hurt, unwell, or just needs his mommy. This is when working from home can mean the most to you.
When you work from home, you alone can decide when you work and how much you work, allowing you the flexibility to create your own schedule. This permits mothers the option of working when children are in school or while the little one is asleep and gives them more control over their time when they need to meet a deadline or be available for their family. Working from home takes away the hassles of commuting, and do I need to mention the savings in your monthly budget? No more dealing with the added expense of rising gas prices, just to get to work, or the cost of fast foods, added car maintenance, higher insurance rates and clothes for the office. Have you ever noticed how file drawers simply refuse to open until they have been feed their daily requirement of at least one pair of nylons?
Being a home-based entrepreneur helps prevent 9 to 5 burnout and lets you be your own boss. It allows you to explore unique opportunities and do more of the things that interest you. More people then ever before are working from home and enjoying the the freedom of financial security and the lifestyle they love. You could be one of them.

I remember the 80′s and trying to decide how I could do it all. You know the Supermom Syndrome. As a single mom my desire was to spend as much time with my children as possible, but with holding down two jobs, and trying to make room for Karate classes, homework, and household chores quality time with the kids seemed further and further away.
At the time stay-at-home moms were not all that popular and more, and more moms left home to work jobs and further their education. In spite of all their efforts women still had the worst jobs, at the lowest pay, cooked meals, tended to the household duties and handed over a large chunk of their pay checks to child care providers. In the years that have passed not a lot has changed. The fact is, most women still only earn 80 cents on the dollar compared to men, and a larger percent of it then ever goes to help support their households. More than a few women have suffered a nasty bump on the head from the glass ceiling; and in the recent economic changes, supporting a home and family have only become increasingly more difficult.
If you are a mom faced with the dilemma of working out of the home or continuing to stay at home to care for your children and family, it’s good to know that home based jobs can offer you the best of both worlds. There are, in fact, several benefits to working from home and many privileges come with the territory.
